Shopify has added Shop Campaigns performance data to its ShopifyQL analytics layer, opening a new reporting option for authorized analytics and reporting apps.
The new shop_campaign_insights schema is available through the Admin GraphQL API’s existing shopifyqlQuery field. Apps with the read_reports scope can query it on behalf of an authorized merchant; Shopify says no additional scope or integration work is needed for apps already using ShopifyQL.
What data is available
According to Shopify’s developer changelog, the schema exposes campaign-level and segment-level metrics including ad spend, sales, orders, return on ad spend, average order value, and average customer acquisition cost.
The data can be grouped by campaign name, customer segment and time period, from hourly through yearly, in the shop’s own timezone. Shopify also says developers can use Analytics Web Components to place Shop Campaigns metrics in an app interface without storing the data themselves, and can add annotations to merchant analytics charts for events such as a campaign launch or budget change.
Who this affects
This is primarily a change for Shopify app developers, agencies and service providers building merchant reporting. It gives those teams a native route to bring Shop Campaigns performance into the same reporting workflow as other ShopifyQL data, rather than asking merchants to reconcile campaign metrics in a separate tool.
For merchants, the practical value depends on the analytics or agency app they use. The release does not automatically change a store’s advertising setup, but it may make performance reporting more consistent once an authorized app supports the schema.
What to do next
- Check whether your analytics, reporting or agency app already uses ShopifyQL and has
read_reportsaccess. - Ask your provider whether it plans to add Shop Campaigns reporting and how campaign and segment metrics will be defined in its dashboards.
- Keep campaign names and customer segments consistent so the new dimensions can be compared cleanly over time.
- Review ROAS alongside sales, average order value and acquisition cost rather than treating a single campaign metric as a complete profitability measure.
The official announcement is developer-facing, but it is a meaningful reporting expansion for the Shopify service ecosystem supporting merchants’ acquisition and campaign measurement.
