Shopify’s changelog describes scheduling, publishing and A/B testing capabilities for themes and selected checkout or customer-account configurations. The feature helps teams avoid an all-at-once launch, but it does not remove the discipline required for a useful experiment.

Write the decision rule first
Define the primary measure before the test starts: completed checkout rate, revenue per visitor, profit per visitor or another business metric. Record the audience, traffic split, start time and changes that could influence results, such as promotions or inventory events.
Protect the customer journey
Do not test a new checkout experience without checking payment methods, discount logic, accessibility, mobile behavior and post-purchase emails. A small conversion lift is not valuable if it increases payment failures or support contacts.
Use A/B testing to make release decisions more evidence-based. Keep the experiment simple enough that the result can be explained and repeated.
